Server halls and engineering rooms sit inside sealed enclosures — a building within a building — that protect the equipment from leaks and dust. The enclosure walls hold back fire for 45 minutes.

NORD-4 occupies its own fenced site. The data center runs an in-house security service around the clock. Every entrance to the grounds and to the facility itself is fitted with an access control system that keeps out anyone without clearance. The site is also wired to the alarm service of the Russian Interior Ministry's Okhrana agency — a panic button.

Power supply
Two independent feeds for every power center
Two independent feeds from the city grid arrive at the substation and are split between four power centers. Each power center has two step-down transformers, four diesel generators and eleven uninterruptible power supplies. One power center feeds two server halls and the engineering equipment installed in them.

Network infrastructure
The DataLine network spans two sites, OST and NORD. It has points of presence at MMTS-9 and MMTS-10 and connects to the MSK-IX traffic exchange. All nodes are linked by DataLine's own redundant fiber optic lines.
